In today’s society, we are often surrounded by messages encouraging us to “stay positive” and avoid negative feelings. Self-help books, social media posts, and seminars often push the idea that a positive mindset is the key to success, and that negative states should be banished at all costs. However, forcing yourself to be positive can actually make things harder, and sometimes it’s okay to let your feelings be as they are.
