Ableton Live 12’s Tuning System can also be used with external VSTi, but with the following conditions:

  • It only works with MPE-compatible VST plugins.

  • Depending on the plugin, you may need to right-click the VST title bar and enable “MPE Mode.”

All of Live’s built-in instruments are MPE-compatible and can use the Tuning System by default. By default, 12-tone equal temperament is used, but you can also load and play with various tuning systems.
