  • The writer’s share is the portion of royalties allocated directly to the songwriter(s) for their creative contribution (lyrics, melody, composition).
  • This share is paid directly to the songwriter by a Performance Rights Organization (PRO), such as ASCAP or BMI, and cannot be assigned to anyone else.
  • It applies primarily to performance royalties and does not include mechanical royalties unless explicitly managed by the writer.
