There are many reasons why the WordPress admin panel might display incorrectly, but I’ll introduce the method I used to fix it this time. It involves going to the server management section of Xserver and using the ‘PHP Version Switch’ to change to a different PHP version and then switch back. Doing this seems to trigger some kind of restart that restores things to normal, at least in my case.

It seems better to update it to at least php 8.1.22. I think some plugins will no longer be usable, but let’s upgrade the PHP version.
