Every new blogger hits the same wall: “Should I narrow my target audience or go broad?” The internet is full of advice like “define your persona” or “find your niche.” But honestly, that question misses the point.
Forget about target settings. Just write. Share what you find interesting, what you want to say, and keep publishing. You don’t need to decide who you’re writing for from the start. Most of the time, your real audience reveals itself as you go. Check your analytics, notice who’s reading, and adjust if you want—after you’ve actually put something out there.
No one creates a perfect target persona before they start. That’s just theory. Blogging is alive. Your interests change, your readers change, and your writing evolves. The target isn’t something you define before you write—it’s something that emerges as you keep going.
You’ll hear things like “a broad target brings more traffic” or “a narrow target builds loyal fans.” If blogging success were that easy to calculate, no one would struggle. The real point is: are you helping someone? Are you sharing your own words, your own experiences, your own thoughts? That’s what sticks with people.
Bottom line: “Should I narrow or broaden my target?” isn’t what matters in blogging. If you have time to worry about that, use it to write another post. The direction will reveal itself as you keep writing.
